Fiona's Home Page

I am currently an Assistant Professor at Widener University in Chester which is near Philadelphia. Previously I was a Post-Doc at Drexel University working on various aspects of large-scale structure with Michael Vogeley and various others. See the Drexel Physics homepage for more information about the group and what we get up to. I was supposed to stay for 2 years but we were awarded an LTSA so I stayed for a little longer! Ok, a crtain someone might have had something to do with that!

I am teaching physics and astronomy. I was the instructor for Physics 181-701 - Astronomy at Drexel.

I completed my PhD in Cosmology at the University of Durham in 2000. My project involved analysing the Durham/UKST Redshift Survey, simulating the 2dF QSO Survey and checking the calibration of the Cepheid P-L relation. I was supervised by Tom Shanks with help from Carlton Baugh and Phil Outram. See Durham Extragalactic Astronomy.

I did my undergraduate degree in Maths and Astrophysics at Cambridge University (the Institute of Astronomy) and was based at Newnham College.
